General Name: Bellatrix Drusella (Black) Lestrange Nicknames (and who is likely to use them): Bella (by the Dark Lord and her father), My Pet (by Rodolphus) Age: 54 Birthday: November 6, 1951 Place of Residence (an address in Hogsmeade unless something else has been decided with the mods): Lestrange Manor, Upper Slaughter
Appearance Height: 5'11" Weight: 140lbs now - was just under 120lbs when she escaped from Azkaban Eyes: Brown, almost black Her eyes are heavy lidded, which help in hiding them when she is watching others. Hair Colour & Style: Black, but has greyed considerably since Azkaban. She charms it back to her original colour, but it never lasts Skin tone: Deathly pale and thin skinned; can see veins in her neck and clavicle very clearly Build: Bella is much too thin for her height but she has gained some weight back after escaping from Azkaban in 1996. Distinguishing Marks: Criss-crossed scars on her back given to her by Rodolphus during their first sexual encounter - she wears them with a sense of price; a scar on her right upper arm from a slashing hex. On the sole of her left foot she has an imprint of an arrow which is only revealed using a particular Scandanavian incantation for calling upon certain DE's who also bear the invisible mark. Dress Style: (remember that most wizards would wear robes, and that there is a war going on which might effect supplies)Bella always wears black, rather immodestly cut and torn robes in velvet or any other heavy and opulent material. Some of them are hopelessly tattered, but Bella likes that even more. In movement, her robes swirl about her as if they themselves were caught in the tornado of her personality Things they would always carry with them (optional): wand - what else could one need? Other: Bellatrix's appearance has changed since she has become leader for the Death Eaters. She still hasn't completely regained her beauty from before, but she is not as gaunt and haggard looking as she was before. She has gained weight and has used potions and charms to help with her appearance - before she didn't care so much but now that she has taken the Dark Lord's place amongst the DE, she feels compelled to look more queenly. However, nothing has helped her deathly pallor which may allude to her being severely anemic.
Her mouth is thin and stretched and she has lines around them that deepen when she purses her lips in concentration. Her teeth are crooked and discoloured from years of malnutrition and she has lost 3 or 4 back molars due to decay
Health Disabilities/Handicaps: Developed arthritis in her hips. She tires very easily and takes naps in the afternoon. Health in general – both mental and physical: Because she is so pale, Bellatrix could suffer from severe anemia. Mentally, Bella is, for lack of a better word, insane, but she is still able to function. She is most certainly unbalanced and is very paranoid, believing that everyone around her is a potential spy - even her husband. Any of the emotion she expresses is to an extreme - from elation that is released in maniacal laughter to deep, dark depression that is unleashed in echoing, frightening wails. Physically she is malnourished but she is still quite powerful enough to perform unforgivables in an instant. Other:
Personality First Impression (others have of you): Wouldn't want to meet her in a dark alley; she's downright nutters. General Behaviour: Bellatrix is not only a sadist, but a masochist as well. She derives physical and emotional pleasure from other's pain. She is what legal experts would describe as criminally insane - not knowing right from wrong. She harbours no remorse - for anything. To Bellatrix, murder is always right and never wrong. To take life means power, and power is never wrong. To Bella, power is the only reason for living.
Bellatrix has no maternal instincts whatsoever. She detests animals and children. She has no care or use for "love" or emotional frippery, which some would raise an eyebrow at considering she is married. However, her marriage is not one of love but of companionship, sex and, again, power. When it comes to family, blood does not run thicker than water and she does not hesitate to destroy a member of her family if they go against her.
Since she was born a Black, Bellatrix unwaveringly believes in the theory that pure-blooded wizards are far superior to all else. Witches and Wizards like the Weasleys who are pure-blood but sympathize and associate with muggles and mudbloods infuriate and disgust her.
Bellatrix enjoys taunting and teasing her prey before killing them - mocking them for their weakness. She's an exceptional duelist, and expert at quite a few non-verbal hexes.
Her mannerisms are extreme and she talks with her hands and arms in large sweeping motions. Her speech is fast and her consonants clipped, as if she is spitting out each word. Everything about her is dramatic.
Strengths: Bellatrix is fiercely loyal and devoted to the Dark Lord and has never betrayed her allegiance to him. The Dark Lord is the one person who she held higher above herself. She successfully escaped attempts by the authorities to bring her in to Azkaban when Voldemort first fell and sought out those who would know his whereabouts - finding the Longbottoms and using the Cruciatus on them until they were driven insane. Bellatrix survived Azkaban and although it took a toll on her physical form, it did not affect her mind as it could have. Her goal of escaping and being reunited with the Dark Lord is what kept her mind from finally going into the void that so many prisoners easily accept. This also proves that she is more patient than some would assume, considering her temper and quickness to attack and/or kill others. She has amazing survival skills and walks very quietly, which is helpful in attacks and spying/eavesdropping. Her hearing and eyesight are excellent for someone her age.
Weaknesses: She is never satiated when it comes her sadistic pleasures. She craves instant gratification, which is why she rarely makes an adequate torturer - the Longbottoms were a unique situation and she's never experienced anything like that since. Bellatrix assumes too much in that she is/was Voldemort's most trusted and regaled follower. She underestimates her husband more than she should which makes her very vulnerable if he should ever wish to usurp her role as leader of the Death Eaters. She has a terrible temper and is quick to react, then think later. She lacks a certain amount of self-control and gets caught up in the moment far too easily. It takes a long time for her to wind down from her passionate rages. She is unpredictable and all who are around her are wary at being lashed out upon.
Habits: Plays with and caresses her wand while she is thinking, cracks her knuckles, talks to herself loudly, not caring who may be listening - which wouldn't matter as she's rarely coherent when she does Enjoys: Taking life, using the Cruciatus curse, sex (BDSM), hearing the screams of one in extreme pain, especially when she is the cause of that pain Dislikes: Animals, children, weakness, disloyalty, The Order, Harry Potter, muggles and mudbloods Other: Bellatrix is not one for many words. She prefers to reveal herself through her actions so therefore she isn't a very astute in debating. She'd rather let the other person think they've had the last word when in fact she's plotting for revenge in another form.
Family Spouse/partner (if applicable): Rodolphus Lestrange (husband) Parents: Cygnus Black and Drusella (Rosier) Black Sibling(s): Andromeda (Black) Tonks and Narcissa (Black) Malfoy Children: None Bloodline: Need you ask? Pure-blood, of course Family History: The marriage between Cygnus and Drusella was one of convenience to further the pure blood lines within the Black family. They tolerated one another enough to produce three offspring, however none of them being a male which Cygnus blamed Drusella for.
Some theorize that some who are evil are the creative result of another's evil and some who are evil are just born that way. For Bellatrix, the latter is the one that holds the most truth. Bella was never abused or harmed as a child - she never received any sort of physical punishment or sexual molestation. Her upbringing was rather ordinary, though her parents didn't really pay much attention to her or her sisters- they had servants and house-elves to look after the children.
Bella was closest to her father than of her mother - she was grateful for the life her mother gave her but that is where her affection for her mother ended. Bella was very much the Daddy's girl growing up.
As for her sisters, Bellatrix hated the fact that she wasn't the only child and was fiercely jealous of any attention her sisters received from her parents. She probably tormented her siblings something dreadful and unsuccessfully tried to either drown or poison them when they were younger (will want to discuss this with players for Andromeda and Narcissa).
She was never good with animals and was fascinated with pulling off the wings and legs of insects. Whenever she found a dead animal, particularly birds, she would keep it and study it until it rotted away into bare bones. She never purposefully killed any creature when she was a young child, but when she became older and learned more magic she enjoyed the game of hexing any moving target.
Pets: None, however she still keeps a collection of dead birds Other:
Social/Romantic/Sexual Close Friendships: None Known Enemies: Everyone, particularly Harry Potter Sexual Preference: Bellatrix has no specific orientation. Sex for Bella is about power and pleasure and she'll take it from any source she'll get: man, woman or beast. Turn Ons: Using the Cruciatus Curse, rape, sodomy, any form of corporeal punishment Turn Offs: Tears, begging, weakness, traditional missionary position Past Relationships: None, though she has seduced many What they think about sex and love: Bellatrix can only enjoy sex or achieve orgasm if there is an amount of pain involved - either hers or someone else's. Using the Cruciatus curse on another person has caused her to orgasm, for instance. Bella does not love - she is incapable of that emotion. Infatuation, yes but love is not.
Other: At the tender age of nine, Bellatrix lost her virginity by seducing one of her older male relatives. The wizard felt very guilty to succumbing to her wiles and she held the fact of the encounter over his head, blackmailing him for money or any other thing her young heart desired. It didn't last long as the poor man committed suicide months later. However, she learned early just how much power a woman could have over a man through her sexuality.
During her years at Hogwarts, starting even from her first year there, Bellatrix seduced many members of Slytherin house. The one person she couldn't beguile, however, was Rodolphus. After a few unsuccessful attempts in their fourth year, she gave up without looking back and forgot about him, assuming that he preferred to bed his own sex. During their graduation celebrations on the last night at Hogwarts, Rodolphus kidnapped her and took her to the Room of Requirement, where he brutally sodomized her and whipped her with his wand, leaving noticeable scars on her back. In that instant, she was his. She considers it one of the most powerful sexual experiences she's had in her life and after leaving Hogwarts, she and Rodolphus married which pleased both of their families greatly.
Magical Wand Type: 12 inches, Ebony, Dragon Heart String - excellent for pure, unlimited power Magical talents: Cruciatus Curse (most obviously), any of the unforgivable curses for that matter, Potions, Occlumency (though not as strong as her husband is). Magical weaknesses/aversions (what your character can't or won't do): Care of Magical Creatures, Herbology (anything that has to do with cultivating and caring for living things); has no patience for Imperius for long periods of time First sign of magic – when and what: Stopped a bird in mid-flight with her father's wand at the age of four Boggart: A blast of green light Knows how to Apparate (y/n): Yes Knows how to cast a patronus (y/n – if yes what?): No Knows how to use the unforgivables (y/n): Oh most definately Other:
Schooling Year: (in relation to Harry's year) 21 years before Harry's year House: Slytherin Other Affiliations: N/A Best subject(s): Transfiguration, Charms, History of Magic, Defence against Dark Arts (she found it highly amusing) Poor subject(s): Herbology, Care of Magical Creatures Electives s/he would have taken: Divination, Astrology Best Mates: TBA - possibly Rabastan? Otherwise, none Romantic interests: She tried to seduce Rodolphus and failed; she never "dated" but slept with many in her house Level of education reached (do your characters have OWLs/NEWTs – none of the above? Have they gone on to some type of training? Remember that there is no wizarding uni and that there is a war going on): Finished Hogwarts and went straight into becoming a Death Eater with her husband.
Other:
Financial (Remember that in a war most people will not have much money – if any at all. Those who do profit from war are usually those who are willing to use exploit others. Keep this in mind when deciding on your character's monetary situation.) Current Occupation: Death Eater Other Occupations (side incomes, volunteer work, illegal activities): None Monetary Situation: What she needs, she takes or has one of her DE's steal for her. Other: Bellatrix is infuriated with her cousin in the fact that the Black estate was willed to Harry Potter.
Current situation Affiliations & Organisations: Leader of the Death Eaters; First in Command and all that Faction this character supports: Death Eaters - her own agenda Role in the ongoing war: Bellatrix continues to lead her Death Eaters to bring a reign of pure-blooded witches and wizards and erradicate impure wizarding blood. She cringes at the thought of allowing muggles purposefully into their world.
Finally what is your character's deepest, darkest secret (one that other game characters probably wouldn't know and that he/she would prefer they didn't find out about) Also list the names of anyone who might know, or might be suspicious of this knowledge:
Bellatrix became pregnant shortly after joining the Death Eaters. The Death Eaters attacked several muggles one night and one of the muggle men caught Bellatrix off guard, taking her away from the struggles and savagely raping her. Bella could have easily fought him off, but the attack on her person was far too thrilling to interrupt. After the rape, she of course killed him - more angry that he finished so quickly. However, a month later she realized she was pregnant and could not determine who's child it was: Rodolphus' or the muggle's? The child, a boy, was born with ease and quite healthy, but the first moment when Bella was alone with it she killed the babe, snapping its neck. Rodolphus accepted her explanation that the child must have been too weak to live without any question. The only persons Bella is afraid of knowing about her letting a muggle spill his seed inside of her was Rodolphus and Voldemort, though she suspects Rodolphus may already know.
Her biggest secret is that she believes that Voldemort was weak and not worthy of leading the Death Eaters. After all, a stronger wizard would have never allowed a 17 year old boy kill him.
Bella created a new symbol for certain Death Eaters to wear and in an inconspicous place: the sole of their left foot. It is in the shape of an arrow (which is significant in that Bellatrix is Latin for "female warrior") and represents the Norse Runic Symbol called Tiwaz (from Tyr, the Norse sky god.) which means: Honor, justice, leadership and authority. Analysis, rationality. Knowing where one's true strengths lie. Willingness to self-sacrifice. Victory and success in any competition or in legal matters. This symbol can only be revealed when only she says the proper Scandanavian incantation which translates to: Arcane Mark. The idea is that this spell marks a person or object, but it is only visible if a certain spell is worked over it. This would function in many ways like the original Dark Mark, only it would be invisible unless the proper charm was worked over it. This would of course allow for the same kind of summoning as Voldemort used.
